I didn’t have many things that I always wanted. When I was 5, I saw this miniature kitchen toy outside of this shop, so I pulled my dad’s hand and ask him to buy it for me. He declined, making me upset and throwing tantrum. “Kalau daddy beli untuk kamu nanti sekejap saja kamu main, esok lusa daddy yang kemas” (If I buy it, you will only play with it for a little while, before you know it I’m the one who keep it for you) that’s what he said. The little me still persistent and crying, so my dad just buy it, and I play chef👩🍳 (main masak-masak) that night happily. The next day, it became just like any other toys🧸 that my dad helped to put away while the little me forget our promise.
Since then every time I want to have something unnecessary, he will remind me above story, and when I grew older, he will say “Lebih baik beli makanan, lagi kenyang, perut pun happy”(better buy food, it makes you full and your stomach happy)🤣
And that’s one of the many life stories that I have with my dad, which also taught me to value needs rather than wants, and a food lover.😋
